Nainital pairs a compact lakefront with wooded slopes and easy access to the wider Kumaon hills. The town suits travellers who prefer scenic walks, relaxed cafés and one or two viewpoints rather than a hurried circuit.

Travel gently in the hills

• Walk the lakefront early or late when Mall Road feels calmer.
• Confirm boating and ropeway operations locally; both depend on conditions.
• Plan viewpoints only when visibility is worthwhile.
• Consider Bhimtal, Sattal or another nearby lake as a separate day trip.
